The Resources Directory is the place where you will find a contractor, locate craftsmen, tradesmen, products and services for older and historic homes. Posted information has been obtained from the Resource’s website, brochures and other publicly available information. No entries in the Resources Directory are ever solicited for inclusion and none pay to be listed here. It is the responsibility of the consumer to interview and research the qualifications and experience of service providers before making a purchase or contracting for services.

  • A. E. Sampson & Son

    A. E. Sampson and Son has been milling custom real wood flooring for three decades. Reclaimed antique flooring is one of their specialties. From old warehouses, homes and barns in Maine they remove nails and re-dry the wood for maximum stability before turning each board into precision flooring. New flooring is milled from 9 different species native to Maine, another 7 North American species and several international sources. Stair treads, handrails, balusters & posts are available in most species and custom run to specification.

  • Admiral Building Movers

    Admiral Building Movers specializes in moving, raising, shoring and leveling wooden structures. Matt Murphy & Dick Fosher, owners, serve NH, VT, ME & MA.  Examples of their work include raising a structure to repair or replace old foundations, elevating a building to turn crawl spaces into living area & correcting sagging floor problems by replacing supporting structures. Relocating a building may be for preservation, subdividing a property, or to move a house away from a busy road.  See video: Moving the Thomas Clark House in Belmont, MA.

  • Advent Home Inspections

    Dan DeStefano, proprietor of Advent Home Inspections, performs inspections on antique, historic, high-value, and older properties in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Inspections in other states are also possible. Member of American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI #1388) and Charter Member of Historic Building Inspectors Association (HBIA).  MA License #288, CT License #270 and NH License #144.  Home Inspector since 1980.

  • Bedard Preservation & Restoration

    Stephen P. Bedard and his talented craftsmen have a passion for working with old buildings, especially antique post and beam structures. They specialize in renovating antique buildings to be energy efficient, comfortable spaces while maintaining their historic qualities and value. The company offers building assessments to those considering purchasing, selling or having work done on their property. Another specialty is dismantling an existing building such that it can be moved and reconstructed. They maintain a list of dismantled buildings for sale.

  • Brimfield Antique Show

    2014 Schedule: May 13-18, July 8-13, Sept. 2-7. The Brimfield Antiques Show is the largest outdoor antiques show in the world.  Brimfield is centrally located in Massachusetts about 60-miles west of Boston. Running along Rt. 20 for a distance of a half-mile, the show is a huge, vast undertaking, filled with thousands of dealers over the course of the week, selling everything from the finest antiques to “yard junk.” It requires a day or two to see everything and the Show runs sun-up to sun-down, rain or shine.
