Resources

The Resources Directory is the place where you will find a contractor, locate craftsmen, tradesmen, products and services for older and historic homes. Posted information has been obtained from the Resource’s website, brochures and other publicly available information. No entries in the Resources Directory are ever solicited for inclusion and none pay to be listed here. It is the responsibility of the consumer to interview and research the qualifications and experience of service providers before making a purchase or contracting for services.

  • Bedard Preservation & Restoration

Stephen P. Bedard and his talented craftsmen have a passion for working with old buildings, especially antique post and beam structures. They specialize in renovating antique buildings to be energy efficient, comfortable spaces while maintaining their historic qualities and value. The company offers building assessments to those considering purchasing, selling or having work done on their property. Another specialty is dismantling an existing building such that it can be moved and reconstructed. They maintain a list of dismantled buildings for sale.

  • Colonial Restorations

Since 1981, Colonial Restorations has provided structural restoration and repair of historic timber frame buildings. Owners Tom and Brad Green, father and son, recommend that buyers of historic homes have a professional evaluation of the structural timber frame, including a repair cost estimate, before purchasing. Any identified problems, such as a rotted beam repair or a structural sill replacement are often reasons for adjustment to the purchase price. If you have questions about how the structure of your building is holding up, call them.
